Bongard Films’ Ralph Bongard donned his director/dop cap for a week in Winnipeg for True Value Hardware Canada’s spring/summer campaign through Bates O’Rourke.
At Dalton Kessler Films, director/dop Terry Collier picked up two shoot and two print days for Nissan through Chiat/Day. Leo Zaharatos at Chameleon Film and Video posted.
Boris Damast of Damast Gordon and Associates directed and Nick Allen-Woolfe shot three days for Colgate Total, with Chameleon’s Andy Attalai handling posting duties. Young and Rubicam was the agency.
Circle Productions director Fred Frame landed two days for Lotto 6/49 in Vancouver, with Ron Williams on camera. The job was out of Parallel Strategies/Fieldstone. Robert Turner directed for B.C. Ford, Vancouver, through y&r/fmda. The two-day assignment, which starred Lindsay Wagner, was shot by Williams.
At The Players Film Company, Henry Less pulled double-duty as director/dop on a day for Block Drugs and Enterprise Advertising. Less also scored one shoot and one prelight day for Axmith McIntyre Wicht and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, with Flashcut’s Norm O’Dell handling post. Through Ogilvy and Mather, Rob Thomas directed three spots for kfc, with Barry Parrell on board as dop. Jon Hopp of Third Floor Editing posted.
Also at the Players, director David McNally scored two days for Hershey and DDB Needham. Doug Koch handled camera and Peter McAuley of The Daily Post edited. The McNally/Koch team landed another three days for Campbell’s Soup Company out of Bayer Bess Vander Warker, Chicago. cgi was handled by Calibre Digital Design.
At SPY Films, director Peter Henderson hooked up with dop Sean Valentini on a psa for Share Life through Vickers and Benson. Daily Post’s Mark Hajek edited and Ted Rosnick did the music. Gord McWatters directed and edited a pool for the Toronto Sun. The agency was Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly. Valentini handled camera and Pure West picked up music honors.
Through Bates Canada, Radke Films director Philip Kates partnered with dop Andre Pienaar for a prelight and a shoot day for Hyundai. Jeff Jones directed a prelight and a shoot on two assignments: Honey Nut Cheerios through fcb and Cheer out of Leo Burnett. Koch handled camera on the Cheer job.
L.T.B. Productions’ Greg Gold directed a Sears Canada fashion pool in Miami through Prism Communications. The four-day job, shot by Valentini, was edited by Richard Unruh of Third Floor. Duncan Bruce made his directorial debut with ltb for Cyclepath and Bruce and Myers. George Vale handled the lens. Vale also edited at The Fat City Film Co.
Director/dop Buck Holzemer of Heathgate Films picked up two days for Uncle Ben’s through Bates Canada.
At Apple Box Productions, director David Van Fleet and dop John Spooner joined forces for a day in Edmonton for Joey’s Only Seafood and The Image Brokers of Calgary. Studio Post and Transfer handled editing.
Bobby Sheehan of Apple Box’s Vancouver office will direct and shoot one day for British Columbia Lottery through Scali McCabe Sloves. Gastown Post and Transfer will do the posting.
In Montreal, Figaro Films director/dop Richard Ciupka did the honors on the first installment of Restaurants McDonald’s 1995 generic campaign, ‘Alice au telephone.’ The campaign originates with agency Cossette and was posted online at Centre de montage electronique and off-line at Metaphor.
Director Claude Brie and dop Pierre Gill shot ‘Doberman,’ a new French 30 for Concessionaires Volkswagen, a mixed Jetta/ rrsp promotion. The one-day shoot is out of Palm Publicite Marketing.
At Cinelande, Lyne Charlebois and dop David Franco took over an inner-city alleyway for some ball hockey action with a group kids on a one-day shoot for McDonald’s, Fondations Patrick Roy and Cossette.
Back from sunny Florida, director Erik Canuel and dop Gabor Tarko completed four new French 30s for Ford du Canada’s Contour and Windstar. Michel Proulx art directed for the house on the six-day shoot out of s.v. y&r.
At La Fabrique d’Images, director Jacques Fournier and dop Steve Danyluk shot ‘Plus mieux,’ a tongue-in-cheek re-evaluation of the creative efforts of ad agencies, and the latest Diet Pepsi spot from Blouin Coulombe Dube Thompson. Buzz handled basic editing and graphics, AstralTech handled lab duties and Supersuite did the film-to-tape transfer.
Fournier also got the call on four additional French 30s in Bell’s hard-hitting personal testimonial long-distance campaign. The latest ‘sorry-we-left’ theme includes savings, slamming, billing and service. The three-day shoot was lit by two cinematographers, Danyluk and Franco, and is out of Cossette. Buzz handled post and cme did the film transfer.
Finally, director Marc S. Grenier and dop Yves Belanger shot a French 30 for Amigo’s winter driving campaign and Cantel out of agency Groupaction Marketing. Serge Lacroix of Studio Marko did the sound edit. The Quebec Amigo campaign features comedian Stephane Rousseau and the work of house art director Andre Guimond.
