Western Co-Axial acquisition

Western Co-Axial, Hamilton, Ont., has acquired controlling interest in Sportscope Television Network, a 24-hour live sports information service.

Western owns and operates four small Ontario cable systems in Ontario.

Sportscope is now available in 1.8 million homes via Western and Shaw Communications, which recently licensed the service. Penetration has reached a level that may be attractive to regional and national advertisers, says John Rea, newly appointed executive vice-president at Sportscope.
