Super 16
Saturday
The second annual Super 16 symposium, sponsored by Kodak Canada Motion Picture and Television Imaging and the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Toronto’s Film House Sound, 424 Adelaide Street East.
The day’s presentations will be kicked of by an edited version of a videotape which was shot at last year’s session. Camera tests of the latest film stocks will be screened side-by-side (release print from both Super 16 and 35mm).
A ‘Cinematographers Panel’ will comprise three or four shooters with recent Super 16 experience.
Post-production experts from Film House, Medallion PFA, Film Opticals, Studio Post in Edmonton and the National Film Board in Montreal will provide a lot of answers and insights into current and future trends and techniques.
Camera manufacturers Aaton and Arriflex will be represented by experts from Montreal and Munich respectively.
There will be other presenters and the feature panel of the afternoon will be made up of Doug Wilkinson, producer of cbc’s new medical series Side Effects (shot in Super 16), along with several of his technical people.
The symposium promises to offer more information than most mortals can conveniently handle in a day, and the catered lunch and reception afterwards will make it a classy and worthwhile event.
