In Vancouver, Cactus Productions’ Stephen Amini directed and shot ‘Scotties’ for Scott Paper and J. Walter Thompson.

At Apple Box Productions in Edmonton, John Spooner directed and shot ‘Courtroom,’ the second spot in the Speed Kills campaign. Don Gyrluk posted the two-day assignment.

The Directors Film Company’s Robert Quartly scored nine days directing a pool of six 30s for Ford and Young and Rubicam. Michael Buckley handled camera duties and Mick Griffin of Flashcut posted.

After completing Eric Clapton’s ‘Motherless Child’ video, the team of director David Cameron and dop Adrian Wild of The Artists Company landed four days on a pool of three 30s for Pears Shampoo through MacLaren: Lintas. Chris Parkins of Flashcut was the editor and music was done at The Einstein Bros.

At Radke Films, director Pierlucca DeCarlo and dop Marc Reshovsky hooked up on a six-day assignment for Canadian Airlines and Chiat/Day. Michael McLean directed and James Gardner shot two days for Rheem Water Heaters through agency Shirley/Hutchinson. Director Philip Kates picked up two days for Cadbury’s Caramilk and Leo Burnett.

Creatives Rich Buceta, Henry Lu and Ron Baxter Smith joined forces on an aids psa for No Bossman to Answer To (Advertising). Smith directed and Brian Thompson shot the one-day assignment.

Henry Less of The Players Film Company pulled double-duty as director/dop on a day for Energizer ‘Lithium’ and Bates Canada.

Circle Productions Robert Turner directed two days for a&w through bbdo, Vancouver, with David Wagreich on camera. James Weiner doubled as director/dop on a three-day shoot for Lechmere Department Stores. The job came through Chicago’s Cravit and Associates. Stephen Yeates picked up four days out of Ammirati and Puris as director on a Labatt Ice job, with dop Doug Koch.

Also at Circle, Wade Ferley donned his director/dop hat for a day for a B.C. Lottery Corporation shoot through Scali McCabe Sloves, Vancouver.

At Avion Films in Toronto, the director team of Mark Denton and Chris Palmer spent three days with British dop Howard Atherton on a Coca-Cola assignment. The job was through London-based agency Bartle Bogle and Hegarty.

In music video news, Hoodoo Films’ Steve Goldman directed a trilogy of videos for Patricia Conroy, Somebody’s Leavin’, What Else Can I Do? and What Do You Care? In early December, Tim Hamilton will direct a video for the Crash Test Dummies’ The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead in Winnipeg.
