Monitor Award for Pinewood’s Kiss
the West Coast post-production sector received a major vote of confidence from the international film community last month when Pinewood Sound staff mixer and sound effects editor Randy Kiss was presented with a Monitor Award for Best Audio Production in Short Subjects for the film Stroke at a ceremony held in Washington, d.c.
The International Teleproduction Society’s annual international awards competition is considered the Oscars of the post community.
Competition in the category included mtv’s Beavis and Butthead from New York and the Cartoon Network’s Hall of Fame from Atlanta.
Geoffrey Halton, marketing director for Pinewood says, ‘This award is a first for Vancouver. We’ve been recognized as a production center here for some time but this means the work from our post facilities are definitely achieving world caliber standards.’
Stroke, which was also a finalist in Best Overall Achievement in Short Subject, was produced by Vancouver filmmakers Mark Sawers and Greg Middleton.
