Alliance Communications has promoted Christine Shipton from director of television development to vice-president of the same department. Shipton has been with the production/distribution company since 1992.

atlantis Films has named David MacDonald manager, production business affairs and Sue Valencia legal counsel.
MacDonald joins Atlantis after 18 months with the Ontario Film Investment Program. Previously, he was director, creative affairs at Astral Film. Valencia comes to Atlantis after 18 months as a lawyer in the corporate/commercial department at Tory, Tory, DesLauriers & Binnington.
MERS goes Hollywood
management Entertainment Recording Sales, Montreal, has entered into a coventure agreement with Transition Music Corporation of Hollywood, ca.
mers president Mark Fleming says the deal authorizes his company to represent tmc music services to the Canadian film and tv industry.
Fleming, who also manages Canadian performers and composers, says mers can now facilitate ‘quick and easy access for Canadian companies to some of Hollywood’s top composers and supervisors.
He says tmc’s ‘one-stop shop’ service package consists of all music elements for film and tv including underscore, sound design, music cues, clearance rights and supervision.
Radio-Canada lines up
radio-Canada has unveiled its new fall line-up. New primetime offerings include: 41/2, a drama series about veterinarians; Santa Maria, a sitcom set in a detox center; and L’Arche de Zoe, a comedy described as a Quebecoise Cheers.
Returning series include Scoop, La Petite Vie, Les Contes d’Avonlea, Montreal P.Q., Les heritiers Duval, Sous un ciel variable and reruns of Les Filles de Caleb and Blanche. The U.K. detective series Prime Suspect No. 1 makes its French-language debut on Radio-Canada this fall.
