Directors’ Blitz wins B&D pool

At toronto’s Avion Films, Dan Hackett directed a day for Saniflush through Leo Burnett. Director Steven Vaughn scored two days for Alberto-Culver, with Stan Mestel on camera. The job was out of Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly.

Director/cameraman Irv Blitz of The Directors Film Company landed five days for Black and Decker out of McCann-Erickson, New York. Mike Rowles directed and Jim O’Dea shot an assignment for General Motors. The job, posted by Flashcut Editing’s Bob Kennedy, was through MacLaren:Lintas. Director Doug Moshoian teamed up with dop Andre Pienaar on a spot for Shopper’s Drug Mart out of Chiat/Day. David Baxter of Partners’ Post was editor. Also out of Directors, David Bishop directed on three shoot days for Campbell Soup and McKim Baker Lovick/BBDO, New York. Daniel Pearl handled camera.

The Partners’ Film Company’s director Eric Yealland handled a two-day guerrilla-style shoot for Thrifty’s through Padulo Integrated. Sean Valentini was cinematographer. Matthew Vibert directed another day for The Bay through Saffer Advertising. The spot, shot by Chris Holmes Jr., was posted by Gerry Banning. Doug Moshoian directed a two-day project for Crisco through Grey Advertising, with George Willis as dop. David Baxter was editor. Willis donned his director/dop hat for the first of a three-part shoot for Foodland through SMW. Jeff Bessner performed editing honors.

At Damast Gordon and Associates, Boris Damast wrapped up two days for Ford through Young and Rubicam.

Circle Productions’ director/ dop Wade Ferley was in Vancouver for a day on an assignment for Dimetapp out of Anderson Advertising. Fred Frame directed for Nicorette with Barry Peterson handling dop duties. The two-day shoot was out of SMW Advertising. Out of Ogilvy and Mather, Stephen Yeates directed and shot three days for Dove.

Director Richard D’Alessio of Imported Artists Film Company joined up with dop Doug Koch for four days on a Bell assignment out of Leo Burnett. Richard Unruh of Third Floor Editing handled post. D’Alessio, this time with Sean Valentini on camera, picked up a day for Nestle Instant Expresso out of McCann-Erickson. Imported Artists brought in New York-based director Mark Celentano on a job for IDA Drug Stores that will feature Olympic medallist Silken Laumann. Ian Roberts Ross Roy was the agency for the three-day assignment.

They’ve been keeping busy at Radke Films: director John Mastromonaco and dop Barry Peterson had seven days for Toyota through Saatchi & Saatchi. Through Backer Spielvogel Bates, Radke director Philip Kates landed four days for Hyundai. Paul Cameron handled camera duties. Kates also picked up two days directing the new TTC campaign with dop Andre Pienaar, out of Communique. And Jeff Jones is off to Mexico City to direct a two-day spot for The Church of the Latter Day Saints.

At Dalton Films director Todd Allen landed a day for Advil through y&r.

Heading west to Vancouver, The Ace Film Company’s Allen Jones served triple duty as director/dop/editor on a one-day shoot for Toyota and was director/editor on a three-day project for cknw, with Gord Carson handling camera. Both assignments were out of Glennie Stamnes.

Cactus Productions’ Randy MacDonald directed a pool for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool out of Phoenix Advertising, Sask. Roger Vernon was dop for the Vancouver studio shots and Joe Pender was dop for the Saskatchewan location shots.
