Montreal: Cinar Films common shares began trading on the NASDAQ National Market July 6 under the cinrf symbol.
Cinar chairman and ceo Micheline Charest says the nasdaq listing means financial information on the company is now distributed through more than 200,000 electronic terminals in brokers’ offices throughout the u.s. and around the world.
New York media and entertainment specialist Furman Selz has been hired to act as Cinar’s principal market makers in the u.s.
Cinar is reporting a better first half of 1994/95 than forecast.
Net earnings for the integrated production, distribution and service company increased to $1.79 million from $927,000 for the same six-month period last year, while revenues rose to $14.97 million, up from $10.28 million in the first half of ’93/94.
The increase is primarily due to the delivery of the first season of the animated series, The Busy World of Richard Scarry.
Cinar has also announced that the $10 million miniseries Million Dollar Babies, coproduced with Bernard Zukerman Productions, Toronto, will be broadcast simultaneously on cbs and cbc during the fall sweeps in November.
