It is understood that the minister of Canadian Heritage has received the secor study on the National Film Board and Telefilm Canada. Observers had suggested the report would recommend merging the two institutions, but apparently it does not. The report will likely be revised through informal consultation with the industry. A public hearing may also be in the works.

Alliance Communications is the first company to produce a Canadian series for a primetime u.s. network slot. Due South is set for eight episodes, with 14 pending for the cbs network. Most of the series, budgeted at $1.5 million per episode, will be shot in Toronto It will air Thursdays at 8 p.m. on cbs with a simulcast on the CTV Television Network. The pilot was number one in its time period when it aired on cbs in late April.
