Clive Smith sinks his teeth into four 15s

Bear Spots recently finished a series of four 15-second animated commercials for the Ontario Dental Association. The spots, directed by Clive Smith, came from Kert Advertising.

At Dalton Films, Jim Edwards picked up three days for Eatons, with dop Paul Goldsmith. The shoot came from Bensimon Byrne and was edited by Bruce Copeman. Also, director Randy MacDonald has a day for Trident from Backer Spielvogel Bates, with dop Peter Hartmann.

MacDonald, through Cactus Productions in Vancouver, also picked up a spot for The Office Place from Gold Coast Avertising in Miami

And Cactus director Andrea Fredrickson picked up two spots for Realty World from Cossette Communications: Vancouver. Ron Hersey handled camera.

In Montreal, La Fabrique d’Images reports new action for Poulet Frit Kentucky, Bonichoix’s 1994 institutional campaign, McDonald’s Restaurants, Bell Quebec and Molson O’Keefe.

Veteran spot director Jacques Fournier and dop Steve Danyluk shot ‘Tempete,’ a special effects comedy promo for pfk and Young and Rubicam, while Fournier and dop David Franco got the call on an nhl playoff promo for Molson Export/O’Keefe called ‘Moment de Verite.’ The spots are out of agency Groupe Everest. Director Marc S. Grenier and dop David Franco handled four big shooting days on the Bonichoix product and service messages out of agency Productions Jeunesse.

Fournier and cinematographer Pierre Gill mixed f/x and tongue-in-cheek Victorian drama on ‘Panneau’ (Wind) and ‘Nanny,’ two 30s for Vachon’s Passion Flakie. The spots, shot over two days, came were out of agency Cossette. Buzz’s Richard Ostiguy supervised the 3D animation by Meinert and Gunnar Hansen on the ‘Panneau’ spot. Andre Guimond art directed.

Still at Fabrique, director Jean-Francois Pouliot and dop Danyluk shot ‘Quizz,’ a weekend, long-distance promo for Bell Quebec. Karim Waked and dop Bernard Fougeres handled the McDonald’s Olympic cap promo. Both assignments were for Cossette Communication-Marketing. Studio Marko did the sound, AstralTech did the lab and prints, and Jean-Marie Benoit wrote the original music on ‘Quizz.’

At Figaro Films, city-hopping director/dop Glenn Bydwell won the pitch on a French/English 30 and 15 for La Brasserie Molson and Miller, out of agency bcp, Montreal. ‘Anticipation’ and ‘New Product’ were shot over one full day. Figaro’s Claude Brie directed and dop Jean-Pierre Trudel lit the action on three French 30s for Kraft P’tit Quebec cheese and busy agency RTA Publicite. The two-day shoot was posted by Supersuite.

Cinelande reports new film action for stcum, the city’s transit commission, and agency PNMD/Publitel; NBTel and agency Harrington Eastwood Smith/Brunet, St. John, n.b.; and a high-profile event tie-in for Labatt Ice and pnmd.

Erik Canuel and dop J.P. Trudel teamed up on the French/English stcum date, a one-day location shoot promoting Telbus, a new scheduling service. Director Serge Jacques and dop Walter Bal got the call on the NBTel TalkMail job, filmed at the Panavision studio. Pierre Gill is director/cinematographer on the Labatt Ice promo.

At Jet Films, producer Sylvain Archambault reports director Jean-Marc Vallee and dop Yves Belanger took home the prize on ‘Jeu de 21,’ a new instant scratch ‘n’ win product from Loto-Quebec. The one-day exterior shoot, out of agency Tam Tam, wrapped in Montreal April 15.
