Solomon on board at Cinar

Former Warner Bros. International president Michael Jay Solomon has joined Cinar Films as a member of the board of directors.

The appointment reflects Cinar’s emphasis on growth in the u.s. and international markets, says president Ronald Weinberg.

Solomon, a 38-year-veteran of international sales and marketing, and past president of Telepictures, ended his five-year term at Warner April 9. Solomon was named to the board when Pierre de Fouquet, an executive with Com2i, a European venture capital fund, resigned.

Meanwhile, Cinar has announced first-quarter results for the period ending Feb. 28. Net earnings rose sharply to $680,000 from $186,000 last year, while revenues jumped to $6.6 million, due mainly to the increase in finished television programs delivered to broadcasters.
