Telefilm Canada’s top job – held by Pierre Desroches until the end of May – has been gazetted. The posting came out April 13; the deadline for submissions is May 9.

Pierre Pontbriand, Telefilm director of communications, says the posting does not interfere with the government’s right of appointment. ‘The board of Telefilm may make a recommendation as to a candidate and then it’s up to the government to decide on the appointment.’

Rumors had the short list of contenders down to four, including Francois Macerola, Joan Pennefather of the National Film Board and Wayne Clarkson of the Canadian Film Centre.

As for who will replace former Ontario Film Development Corporation head Paul Gratton, rumor puts indie producer Alex Raffe and cbc manager of program contracts and development for in-house productions Heather Marshall at the top of the list. William Mustos is acting head.
