Montreal: The new Denys Arcand film Love and Human Remains premiered on 25 screens in Quebec March 18, tallying up box office receipts of $60,288 in its first three days. The film opened on 24 French- and one English-language screen in Montreal and ranked third behind Naked Gun 33 1/3 at $141,737 and Schindler’s List at $113,600 for its opening weekend. Arcand’s take on the lone English screen was an impressive $9,215.
Love and Human Remains, the director’s first English-language feature, is a $6 million Quebec/Ontario coproduction between Roger Frappier of Montreal’s Max Films and Peter Sussman of Toronto’s Atlantis Films.
The film will be released in the Toronto market on April 1 and is distributed in Canada by Max Films Communications.
