Juggling scripts

B.C. writer Pete White is working with Arvi Liimatainen of Edmonton’s Kicking Horse Productions on a script called Ruby Silver. White says the script, which is evolving from a feature to an mow, is semi-autobiographical and is about a mining town in b.c. during the ’50s.

White is also finishing a draft for an mow with cbc’s Debby Bernstein called Milcol, about life at military colleges, and has another in development with cbc’s Jim Burt about Canadian peace keepers in Bosnia.

Russia hosts TV market

marketskaia, billed as the first international tv program market for Central and Eastern Europe, will be held in Saint-Petersburg, Russia June 7-10.

Back to school

Ryerson Polytechnic University’s School of Radio and Television Arts students will now get to play production house before graduating into the industry proper.

A fourth year has been added to the curriculum of Ryerson’s rta program, offering studies in multimedia, interactive communications, music and marketing.

The new program, leading to a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree, creates three study streams: writing, production and management. In the program’s final year, the streams merge as students work together in small production house simulations.
