As part of its recent expansion plans, Toronto’s Deluxe Sound & Picture, a division of Deluxe Laboratories, has announced the opening of a large new ADR stage.

Corus Entertainment has discontinued operating EdgeTV, the digital television provider of rock and alternative music videos. Kerry Morgan, VP of communications at Corus, places the blame entirely on the lack of sufficient satellite carriage.

Audrey Mehler’s The Boys of Buchenwald was named Best of the Festival at the annual Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival, held May 22-25 in Yorkton, SK. The doc also won for best history documentary and garnered three craft awards for direction (Audrey Mehler), editing (Debra Rurak) and original music (Patric Caird).

Canadian Comedy Award winner Brent Butt is ramping up to star in Corner Gas, the first CTV series shot entirely in Saskatchewan.

VisionTV has embarked on a joint venture with Toronto’s Ellis Entertainment to produce Canadian programs destined for international distribution. The announcement came on April 29 at the Hot Docs festival, where Vision president and CEO Bill Roberts and Ellis Entertainment president Stephen Ellis introduced the new company, VisionTV International.
