Maximum sells German rights to Adoration

Toronto sales company Maximum Films International has sold German rights to Atom Egoyan’s Adoration to Berlin-based distributor X Verleih. The all-rights deal, which also includes Austria, follows the film’s world premiere in Official Competition at Cannes, where it received the Ecumenical Prize.

Egoyan wrote and directed the film and produced through his Ego Film Arts production shingle alongside Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss of The Film Farm. The film stars the teenaged Devon Bostick, Arsinée Khanjian, Scott Speedman and Rachel Blanchard. Robert Lantos is the executive producer.

Thus far, MFI has sold the film to Sony Pictures Classics for the U.S., Latin America and Australia; New Wave for the U.K.; Lev Films of Israel; Palador for India; Videovision in South Africa; LNK in Portugal; Front Row for the Middle East; as well as Audiovisual for Greece, the former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Romania.

MFI’s sister company Maximum Film Distribution is handling the film in Canada, while French co-executive producers Michele Halberstadt and Laurent Petin’s ARP holds rights for French-speaking Europe and the Francophonie.
