Fortissimo acquires worldwide rights to Siddharth

Fortissimo Films has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Richie Mehta’s Siddharth.

The international sales agent will shop the Canadian-India coproduction as it has its world premiere at Venice, followed by a North American premiere in Toronto.

Siddharth tells the story of a chain-wallah who fixes broken zippers on the street, who travels across India with few resources and no connections, searching for his missing son.

The film stars Rajesh Tailang, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anurag Arora, Geeta Agrawal Sharma and Naseeruddin Shah.

A71 Productions’ David Miller and Steven Bray, who collaborated with Mehta on Amal, are the producers of Siddharth, with Mehta’s Poor Man’s Productions.

Mehta earlier sold the worldwide rights to another of his films, I’ll Follow You Down, to Breakthrough Entertainment, before it bowed at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
