Danny Iron, Calum de Hartog partner on Bayou of Pigs adaptation

Producer Danny Iron and writer-producer Calum de Hartog have partnered to adapt the novel Bayou of Pigs for the big screen.

De Hartog will write the script adaptation of the novel by Stewart Bell through the fall and winter. The story, set in the early ’80s, is about a group of U.S. and Canadian would-be mercenaries who attempt to invade and overthrow the government of the Caribbean island of Dominica.

The Cracked creator and exec producer optioned the book last year after meeting with Bell.

“I couldn’t believe the audacity of the plan and the conflicted and rich characters that populate the landscape,” said de Hartog in a statement.

De Hartog is in production on the second season of Cracked for CBC, while Iron’s latest exec producing project, Watermark, will bow at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
