E1 Entertainment has signed an exclusive and long-term deal with Christal Films Productions to handle all of its upcoming titles worldwide and within Canada, picking up notable films including the sequel to A vos marques… Party! and the sci-fi Mr. Nobody.
The deal revealed Monday also hands sales and representation rights within the world market to E1 Films International.
‘This agreement confirms E1’s position among the country’s leading distributors and significantly strengthens our Quebec subsidiary, Seville Pictures, in the Quebec market,’ said Seville and E1 co-president David Reckziegel in a statement, nodding to Christal’s history of box-office success.
Seville made a similar move last summer when it snagged 27 titles from Christal — including Érik Canuel’s Cadavres and Kim Nguyen’s Truffe — shortly after the latter entered bankruptcy protection.
The first film subject to the new agreement is A vos marques… Party! 2, follow-up to the 2007 teen comedy and box-office hit, due in theaters on June 19.
Other titles include Les grandes chaleurs, an adaptation of the play by director Sophie Lorain; Afterwards, starring Romain Duris, John Malkovich and Evangeline Lilly; and the future-set Mr. Nobody from director Jaco van Dormael, which stars Jared Leto, Diane Kruger and Sarah Polley.
