The first annual Playback Summit held in Toronto has come to a close. The event brought together nearly 200 of the industry’s top broadcast and cable executives, producers and other stakeholders in Canadian film and TV industry for inspiration, discussion about what’s working now + next.
Keynote speaker Alexander Manu kicked off the day speaking passionately about dissonance as the new constant and business as a variable.
Heading up the days Network Superpanel CBC head Kirstine Stewart showed courage under pressure as she shared the stage with rival private broadcasters in the wake of recent funding cuts.
Speaking to branded entertainment experts lobbied for a focus on the consumer, and there was lots of talk about the next big global format emerging out of Canada.
And to top it all off, there were some, uh…. strippers.
A huge thanks to our advisory board members for their valuable time, expertise and guidance as well as to our sponsors for their support: Creative Post, ImagesInSound, Dynamix, Molson Coors and Crush Wines.
After this inaugural success the Playback team looks forward to planning the Playback Summit 2013! Stay tuned for next year’s announcements!
