Entertainment One is getting into business with veteran Hollywood TV producer Steven Bochco.
The Canadian indie producer and Bochco will jointly produce a futuristic one-hour TV drama, Evolution.
The straight-to-series drama is set three million years in the future, at the dawn of social Darwinism, where a box that offers the whole of human knowledge is unearthed. The meekest of a group is the first to interpret its lessons, producing a tale of perpetual tension and suspense.
“I look forward to exploring the mysteries of humanity and the secrets of the universe with eOne. John, Michael, Peter and the entire eOne team have become leaders in the independent television community,” Bochco said Tuesday in a statement.
The deal for Evolution follows Entertainment One getting a series of Canadian-made dramas like Rookie Blue, Haven, The Firm and Saving Hope onto Canadian and U.S. network schedules.
Evolution, which was created and written by Bochco and Bryan Law, will be produced by Entertainment One, in association with Steven Bochco Productions.
Bochco, John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg will executive produce, with Law serving as supervising producer.
Entertainment One will handle worldwide rights to the series.
