Phase 4 Films has pacted with Kevin Smith to release the indie director’s films through his production shingle, SModcast Pictures.

Phase 4 will receive the exclusive North American rights to handle up to 12 films annually, with four to be released theatrically.

Part of the agreement includes Kevin Smith holding a live tour to market a film, as he did with Red State, which Phase 4 Films released in Canada.

“We had a terrific experience working with Kevin and his team on Red State in Canada, and are thrilled to be embarking on this new venture with him,” Smith said in a  statement from Sundance 2012.
