Epitome Pictures shopping The L.A. Complex to CW

Epitome Pictures is debuting The L.A. Complex next week on MuchMusic and CTV.

But behind the scenes, the indie producer is negotiating a stateside sale of the homegrown drama, which was shot in Toronto and Los Angeles, to CW.

The scripted series follows six young people, mostly from Canada, hoping for stardom in Hollywood.

Sources close to the sales negotiations indicate no deal has been inked with the U.S. network for the drama, which was previously known as Highland Gardens and stars Jonathan Patrick Moore, Joe Dinicol, Andra Fuller, Chelan Simmons, Cassie Steele, Benjamin Charles Watson and Jewel Staite.

An initial six one-hour episodes of The L.A. Complex, which was executive produced, written and directed by Martin Gero, were ordered by CTV and MuchMusic.

A U.S. sale is expected to trigger another seven episodes for a first season of 13 one-hours.

The L.A. Complex is executive produced by Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn of Epitome Pictures, along with Gero.

Gero shared the directing duties with Stefan Brogren.

Trish Williams is the production executive for MuchMusic and Bell Media.
