Anchor Bay picks up Daydream Nation at AFM

Following its Toronto bow, Michael Goldbach’s Daydream Nation has been picked up by Anchor Bay Films.

The deal at the American Film Market will see Anchor Bay snag distribution rights for the U.S., British and Australia/New Zealand markets from Joker Films.

The Kat Dennings and Josh Lucas-starrer opened the Canada First! sidebar at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it generated interest among film buyers, before heading out onto the Canadian festival circuit.

Goldbach’s directorial debut portrays 17 year-old Caroline Wexler, played by Dennings, moving to a tiny, nowhere town where an industrial fire burns ceaselessly and a serial killer is claiming young victims.

The dramedy also stars Josh Lucas, Andie McDowell, Reece Thompson and Rachel Blanchard.

Trish Dolman, Christine Haebler, Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss share the producer credits, with Cameron Lamb, Tim Brown, Sam Maydew and Aaron L. Gilbert executive producing.
