KO Distribution, the sales arm of Montreal-based KOTV has secured sales and format options for a number of its properties.
Radio-Canada’s Lakay Nou (Productions Jumelage, 10 x 30 minutes; pictured), directed by Ricardo Trogi and created by Frédéric Pierre, has sold to CBC for CBC Gem, Outre-mer 1ère (France Télévisions) for French territories outside of France and TV5Monde for worldwide broadcast outside of Canada.
The intergenerational comedy, which stars Pierre, follows a Quebec family with Haitian origins.
Formats optioned by the company include Radio-Canada’s Zénith (Zenith, KOTV, 13 x 60 minutes). The variety series features four artists, each from a different generation, that perform weekly with an audience of spectator judges spread across those generations eventually crowning a winner. The format was optioned to Endemol Shine Brasil and Endemol Shine Boomdog in Mexico.
KO Distribution also optioned the talk show Le verdict (The Verdict, KOTV, 22 x 60 minutes) to Endemol Shine Germany via its partner Aroma TV and En direct de l’Univers (The Soundtrack of my Life, Attraction, 405 x 60 minutes) to Tunnel Produzioni SRL for Italy also via Aroma TV. Each week, the show features a well-known guest who explores their life through their relationship to music complemented with performances from their favourite artists.
Rounding out the format options is Noovo’s sports drama Double faute (Double Fault, KOTV, 8 x 60 minutes), which was optioned to Pavel Marik Productions in Czechia via Aroma TV.
Additionally, KO Distribution previously sold the coming-of-age story FEM (Ugo Media, 10 x 30 minutes) to RTBF in Belgium and Radio-Canada’s comedy series L’oeil du cyclone (Perfect Storm, KOTV, 13 x 30 minutes) to Slovenian pubcaster RTV Slovenia.
