Circle Blue, Inner City form Canada-South Africa venture

Canadian filmmaking brothers Amos and Alfons Adetuyi have joined forces with Known Associates Group to develop a slate of original films and television productions.

Toronto-based prodcos Circle Blue Entertainment and Inner City films have joined forces with South African film and television production entity Known Associates Group to form the entertainment venture KIC Group.

KIC will have offices in Johannesburg, Toronto and Los Angeles, and aims to develop financing models and capitalize on an existing coproduction treaty between their respective countries.

The new co-venture is developing a slate of 12 titles with an anticipated production volume of $60 million. Included in the line-up is Dreams of the Moon, directed by Sudbury, Ont.-born Alfons Adetuyi, with an estimated $8 million budget, including funding from Telefilm.

“Together, we possess a collective strength, united vision and a strong passion for storytelling,” said Adetuyi in a statement. “This partnership is all about combining our strengths to bring amazing stories to life, of which ‘Dreams of the Moon’ is just the beginning.”

Circle Blue Entertainment was founded by Amos Adetuyi, the award-winning executive producer behind the Canadian legal drama Diggstown. His brother Alfons Adetuyi is president of Inner City Films. In 2021 they were jointly awarded Reelworld’s Visionary Award.

Known Associates Group, based in South Africa, was founded in 2014 and owns production companies such as Moonlighting Films, a global distribution company, a film fund, post-production facilities, and an unscripted/factual content production house.
