Whistler Film Festival unveils 2024 Producers Lab cohort

The seven-month lab provides producers with development support and business training.

The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) has named the six producers set to participate in the upcoming Producers Lab, part of WFF’s year-round Talent Programs.

The Producers Lab is a seven-month initiative designed to elevate the careers of Canadian independent producers. It is sponsored by Creative BC, William F. White International and Netflix.

Participants engage in a comprehensive mix of individual, group and market-focused development sessions led by film industry advisors and mentors, and receive targeted feedback on their projects.

This year’s Producers Lab participants include Alberta’s Elisa McRae with the project IRL and Hrachya Tokmajyan with The Al; Ontario’s Alison Almeida with West Exit; B.C.’s Lori Watt with Power Couple; Saskatchewan’s Style Dayne Stenberg with Pay Day; and Manitoba’s Jessica Landry with Anomaly.

The mentors for the 2024 Producers Lab are John Galway of Corrib Entertainment, Violator Films’ lori lozinski, and production and development executive Kathleen Meek.

Recent projects that have gone through the Producers Lab include Lowell Dean’s Dark Match, which will begin sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market, and Krista Rand’s Re: Uniting, which had its Canadian Premiere at last year’s WFF and is screening in theatres across Canada and the U.S.
