Shaw rolls out broadband VOD player

Shaw Communications has rolled out a broadband VOD player which will allow subscribers to view content on either their TVs or their computers, and has stacked the offering with new release features from Maple Pictures, Universal Studios and MGM, as well as existing content from Movie Central.

‘Technology continues to evolve with the ability to watch content on multi-platforms,’ said Shaw president Peter Bissonnette in a statement. ‘Our new broadband VOD Player provides our customers the convenience of watching their favorite movies and television shows when and where they want to.’

Launched in 2002, Shaw VOD is available to more than 1.5 million customers via digital box or vod.shaw.ca. The company serves 3.4 million customers, including over 1.7 million Internet as well as 950,000 digital phone customers.
