E1 Entertainment has signed an exclusive three-year deal with Here Films and Regent Releasing, distributing DVDs from both in Canada and the U.S.
E1 says it will handle about four titles per month, taking effect immediately and including the release of Departures, last year’s Japanese-made winner of the best foreign-language Oscar. The deal also covers home video releases of Here’s world cinema, plus films and series aimed at the lesbian and gay market. The company’s holdings include the American gay-aimed channel Here! TV.
Other upcoming titles include Xavier Dolan’s festival darling and Oscar contender I Killed My Mother, Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of the Mozart opera The Magic Flute and Haim Tabakman’s controversial Israeli drama, Eyes Wide Open.
