Former Blue Ant Media content exec Vanessa Case has joined Vice Canada.
Case has been named SVP, Studio Canada, reporting to Naveen Prasad. In the role she’ll be responsible for heading up Vice Studios’ production slate in Canada, including development, production, financing, sales and licensing. In addition, she’ll oversee Vice Canada’s production and post-production facilities in Toronto.
She previously served as EVP of content at Blue Ant Media from 2012 to November 2017, when she left the company during restructuring. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing the strategy and creation of the company’s original programming, and also helped launch and rebrand Cottage Life channel, Smithsonian Channel, Love Nature and Makeful.
Prior to joining Blue Ant, she worked at various brands including National Geographic Channel, HGTV and History Channel.
Case joins Vice Canada during a period of significant change for the media co.
In mid-August, Vice Canada named Prasad its new president, and at the same time, U.S.-based parent co Vice Media announced a long-term content partnership with Bell Media. That deal will see new programming from Vice’s U.S. linear network, Viceland, air across Bell Media’s linear and digital platforms.
Prasad’s hire and the deal with Bell Media followed the January announcement that Rogers Media was ending its three-year partnership with Vice Media Canada, which included the Viceland specialty channel and its stake in the content studio.
