Cameras roll in Nova Scotia on Spinster

Penned by Jennifer Deyell and directed by Andrea Dorfman, the feature-length comedy is toplined by U.S. actress and comedian Chelsea Peretti.

chelseaperettipublicityphoto2Production is underway in Nova Scotia on the feature-length comedy, Spinster, starring Chelsea Peretti (pictured).

Written by Jennifer Deyell (The Resurrection of Tony Gitone) and directed by Andrea Dorfman (Heartbeat), the project tells the story of a woman who, after being dumped on her 39th birthday, faces her fear of becoming a lonely spinster.

Producers on the project are Marc Tetreault (Suck It Up) of Shut Up & Colour Pictures, William Woods (Mean Dreams) of Woods Entertainment, Jay Dahl (Heartbeat) of Black Dog Films and Bill Niven (The Book of Negroes) of Idlewild Films.

Peretti’s TV credits include five seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX), as well as Girls (HBO), New Girl (Fox) and Kroll Show (Comedy Central). On the film side, she also recently appeared in Game Night, which is toplined by Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, and the upcoming feature Friendsgiving.

The film is funded by Telefilm and the provincial funder Nova Scotia Business, which contributed $649,590 of the project’s budget.
