Vancouver; Jamie Kennedy (Son of the Mask) stars in Kickin’ it Old Skool, from L.A.-based Yari Film Group and service producer Network Entertainment, which began filming on March 20.
Kickin’ is a fish-out-of-water story in which Kennedy plays a man who awakens after a 20-year coma brought on by a freak break-dancing accident. Music video helmer Harvey Glazer directs from the script by Trace Slobotkin (Serial Killing 4 Dummys). Kennedy, Bob Yari (Dave Chappelle’s Block Party), Phillip Glasser (Sabretooth) and John Hermansen (Poolhall Junkies) are producing with Network’s Raymond Massey (The Papal Chase).
The producers are keeping the U.S. rights to the film open for the moment, says Massey, but Yari subsidiary Syndicate Films International is serving as the film’s foreign sales agent. Old Skool shoots until April 14, and is expected to be completed in the late fall.
