Shorts director Julian Hoffman has wrapped production on his feature debut, the slasher romcom Autumn Hill (pictured).
The film began principal photography across the Greater Toronto Area on Sept. 8 and wrapped Sept. 26. It is currently in post-production, with a 2026 festival run and theatrical release targeted. No distributor is attached as of press time.
Co-written by Hoffman and Emmett Cripps and based on Hoffman’s short film Revenge of the Slasher, Autumn Hill follows a killer who returns to get revenge on the group of youths who defeated him. The cast is led by Honor Spencer, Brett Rideout, Jack MacLean, Flo Olavarria, Jay Richard, Daniel Moreno and Sabrina Knappett.
The project was funded through private equity, and marks the first feature from Hoffman’s Toronto-based prodco Screecher Films, which he co-founded with Zac Spiegelman. Spiegelman and Hoffman produce, alongside Matt Dionne and Adam Massey. Cripps and Michael Goitanich are co-producers.
Alongside Revenge of the Slasher, Hoffman has written and directed short genre films such as Soul Heist, Brain Rot and Firepower Kills. He has also worked as an editor on the Yes TV series Path to Creation and Secrets of the Land, both produced by Chutzpa Productions.
