Blink49 Studios signs first-look deal with Emma Roberts’ Belletrist

Co-founded by Roberts and Karah Preiss in 2019, Belletrist Productions is primarily focused on literary adaptations.

Toronto- and L.A.-based Blink49 Studios has developed a first-look deal with Belletrist Productions, the production shingle co-founded by actor Emma Roberts (Scream Queens; pictured left) and executive producer Karah Preiss (pictured right).

Under the agreement, Blink49 and Belletrist will develop and produce scripted television projects. Previous series from Belletrist include Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and Netflix’s First Kill.

Belletrist Productions was founded in 2019, spun out from the book club Roberts and Preiss created in 2017. The prodco is focused on, but not limited to, literary adaptations.

Blink49’s previous and current productions include Wild Cards (CBC/The CW), Sight Unseen (CTV/The CW) and Crave’s Late Bloomer, which recently launched production on its third season.

“[Blink49’s] commitment to bold storytelling and their appetite for rich, writer-driven material from global books to emerging IP makes them an ideal collaborator as we continue developing stories with a team so aligned with our creative vision,” said Roberts in a statement.
