Production has wrapped on Crash Land, the feature directorial debut of Canadian actor Dempsey Bryk (The Fight Machine; pictured left).
The film is described as a darkly comic coming-of-age story about a group of small-town amateur stuntmen whose days revolve around drinking, antagonizing their community, and filming crude, Jackass-style stunts. Dempsey Bryk also wrote the project, after developing the story with his collaborator Ben Snider-McGrath.
The project is headlined by Canadians Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things; pictured right) and Gabriel LaBelle (The Fabelmans), alongside fellow countrymen Billy Bryk (Friendship) and Noah Nemo Parker (In Cold Light) and U.S. actor Abby Quinn (I’m Thinking of Ending Things).
The film is produced by Dempsey Bryk and Julian Geneen of Toronto’s Grand Touring Productions, and Wolfhard and Billy Bryk under their shared Kid Brother banner. Executive producers include co-star LaBelle; Charles Cohen; Matthew Miller and Matt Johnson of Zapruder Films (BlackBerry); and Jasmin Karibzhanova, Sam Sutcliffe and Dias Toibazarov of San Francisco-based Ursa Major Entertainment.
Financing was provided by Ursa Major, along with Toronto’s Elevation Pictures and Redlab.
Crash Land marks the second project from Wolfhard and Billy Bryk’s Kid Brother following the 2023 horror-comedy Hell of a Summer, which the duo co-starred in while also sharing writing, directing and producing duties.
Dempsey Bryk is repped by Buchwald, Canopy Media Partners and The Characters Talent Agency. LaBelle is repped by CAA, Canopy Media Partners and Play Management. Wolfhard is repped by CAA and Venture Entertainment Partners. Billy Bryk is repped by Mosaic and Oscars Abrams Zimel & Associates.
