Late Bloomer rolls on season three with new showrunners

The Crave comedy series starring creator Jasmeet Raina is currently filming in and around the GTA.

The Crave comedy series Late Bloomer is seeing a reshuffling of creative personnel for its forthcoming third season, with the series’ creator and star Jasmeet Raina becoming co-showrunner alongside Nelu Handa (Run the Burbs).

The 8 x 30-minute third season of Raina’s semi-autobiographical series is currently shooting in and around the GTA. Blink49 Studios, which acquired the show’s producer Pier 21 Films earlier this year, is producing along with Ethriel Productions.

Rejoining Raina (pictured centre) in the show’s cast are Baljinder Singh Atwal, Sandeep Bali, Ashley Ganger, Sugenja Sri, Sachin Mahashi and Ahamed Weinberg. New additions for season three include Usha Kiran Uppal (Doin’ It) and Megha Sandu (I Kill the Bear).

Raina is stepping up as co-showrunner and executive producer for this season, taking over from Shebli Zarghami. He will share those duties with Handa, who joins the show as an executive producer.

In addition, Raina will direct four of the new season’s eight episodes, after helming two in the previous season. Award-winning filmmaker Fawzia Mirza (The Queen of My Dreams) will direct the remaining four episodes, and has also been named as consulting producer.

In the writers’ room, Kaveh Mohebbi, who previously served as executive story editor, has been promoted to co-executive producer. He is joined by returning writers Ameera Siddiqui and Jasleen Powar.

Nelson Kuo-Lee is producer and EP for season three, with Robbie David serving as series producer, Nafisa Murji as creative producer, and Tashi Bieler and Mara Dunker as supervising producers. Other executive producers include Baljinder Dhawan, John Morayniss, Daphne Park and Virginia Rankin.

Late Bloomer is produced in association with Bell Media and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund. The series is supported by tax credit assistance from the Government of Ontario and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. Sphere Abacus handles international distribution.
