The Coven boards Sean Cisterna’s documentary Silver Screamers

The documentary follows a group of seniors working together to create a horror film.

Lyon, France-headquartered The Coven has boarded international sales for Sean Cisterna’s documentary Silver Screamers (pictured).

The company will showcase the film to buyers at the American Film Market, which runs in L.A. from Nov. 11 to 16.

Silver Screamers follows a group of seniors as they venture outside their comfort zones by producing a horror film. Toronto-based Blue Ice Docs is the Canadian distributor.

The film is produced by Cisterna’s Richmond Hill, Ont.-based Mythic Productions and Ivonete de Sousa, and executive-produced by Judy Gladstone. It was funded through private investment along with support from Blue Ice Docs and tax credits.

Silver Screamers made its world debut this September at Austin’s Fantastic Fest shortly before it made its Canadian premiere at the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.

The film went on to screen at fests such as the U.K.’s Celluloid Screams Horror Film Festival, where it claimed Best Feature Film, and the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, where it won over crowds and claimed the Adam Lopez Audience Award.

“The concept drew us in, but the cast of characters kept us watching,” said Priscilla Ross Smith, The Coven founder and CEO, in a statement. “By the end, you’ll feel like you needed this film as much as the seniors did.”
