Toronto-headquartered pay-TV network Hollywood Suite has acquired the U.K. thriller series In Flight for its linear and streaming platforms, as well as Canadian writer-director Luke Higginson’s sci-fi comedy film Relax, I’m From the Future.
The 6 x 60-minute series stars Katherine Kelly (Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office) as a flight attendant who becomes embroiled in a drug-smuggling operation in a bid to save her son, who is serving a 15-year term in a Bulgarian prison for a murder he swears he didn’t commit. The supporting cast includes U.K. actors Stuart Martin (Rebel Moon), Ashley Thomas (Them), Ambreen Razia (The Agency: Central Intelligence) and Julia Brown (World on Fire).
London-based Buccaneer Media produced the series for Channel 4, with Chris Baugh directing. Fremantle is handling international distribution.
The first episode of In Flight will premiere on Hollywood Suite on Friday (Nov. 7), with new episodes dropping weekly through Dec. 12.
The time-travel comedy Relax, I’m From the Future, meanwhile, will make its exclusive broadcast premiere on Hollywood Suite on Nov. 10.
The Hamilton, Ont.-shot feature follows a man who becomes stuck in the past, and must figure out a way to save his doomed future. It premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival in 2022.
The cast is led by New Zealand actor Rhys Darby (Yes Man), alongside Canadians Gabrielle Graham (Possessor) and Janine Theriault (Born to Be Blue) and British-Canadian actor Julian Richings (It Feeds).
The film is produced by Tom Doiron and James van der Woerd of Wango Films. Game Theory Films is the Canadian distributor, with Universal Pictures Content Group handling international distribution. Blue Fox Entertainment acquired U.S. rights to the title in June 2023, and released it theatrically that September.
