Stageview Studios to name soundstage after Graham Greene

The Oscar-winning actor accepted the honour prior to his death earlier this year.

Ballinran Entertainment will name the flagship soundstage of its forthcoming Stratford, Ont. production complex Stageview Studios after the late actor Graham Greene.

The Graham Greene Stage will be the anchor of the new studio facility, which is currently being developed adjacent to Stratford’s historic downtown. According to a news release, Greene, a longtime Stratford resident and member of the Oneida Nation, personally accepted the honour earlier this year, prior to his death from a lengthy illness on Sept. 1.

Craig Thompson (pictured right), president and executive producer of Ballinran, made the announcement of the stage’s christening alongside Greene’s widow, Hilary Blackmore (pictured left), during the week of Oct. 13.

“It means a great deal to us that Graham personally embraced this honour,” said Thompson in a statement. “As a member of the Stratford creative community, his name represents the wealth of talent — actors, directors, writers, designers and other creative professionals who make their home here — people who will leverage the studio to expand Stratford’s creative economy.”

First announced in January, Stageview Studios is being constructed within an existing warehouse facility, with completion set for 2028. Thompson and Ballinran spearheaded the project with the backing of a consortium of local businesses and investors, with the goal of creating a regional production hub.

In addition to the 5,000-square-foot Graham Greene Stage, the three-storey complex will include production suites, the Ballinran offices and flexibile training facilities and workspaces. The studio will also serve as both the production and distribution hub of Stageview.TV, the arts and culture streaming service launched by Ballinran sister company Stageview Media.
