NBC’s Saturday Night Live saw a significant jump in demand as it maintained its lead on the overall TV show chart in mid-October.
The sketch comedy program (pictured) was 68.9 times more in demand than the average series in Canada during the week of Oct. 13 to 19, according to Parrot Analytics. That represents a 20-point increase from the previous week.
The show’s latest episode aired on Oct. 18 and was hosted by U.S. musician and actor Sabrina Carpenter, who was also the musical guest.
PBS’ Sesame Street landed at No. 2 overall with a demand average of 48.2. The series’ 55th season ended on Sept. 11, and its 56th season, the first through its new partnership with Netflix, debuts on Nov. 10.
ABC’s Dancing with the Stars debuted on the Hot Sheet with a demand average of 37.3, landing at No. 5 on the overall list. The fifth episode of the dance competition’s 34th season, which saw contestants dedicate their dances to loved ones, aired on Oct. 14.
Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel remained at the top of the digital original chart with a demand average of 45.6, and moved up from No. 5 to No. 3 on the overall chart. The adult animated series’ second season debuts on Oct. 29.
Netflix’s Stranger Things followed at No. 2 on the digital original list and No. 4 overall, with a demand average of 43.6. The first part of the series’ fifth and final season premieres on Nov. 26.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market. Demand is defined as the total audience demand being expressed for a title within a market. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and viewership, weighted by importance; thus, a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment.
