Bell Media has acquired two new scripted series from the U.K.’s ITV Studios for Crave and CTV, as well as new seasons of a trio of reality shows.
The new titles include the queer drama What It Feels Like for a Girl (8 x 60 minutes; Hera Pictures) and the mystery thriller The Gathering (6 x 60 minutes; World Productions).
What It Feels Like for A Girl (pictured) is based on series creator Paris Lees’ memoir of the same name. The series follows a 15-year-old who leaves their small town to join the early-’00s club scene in Nottingham, but finds themselves in a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol.
The Gathering is created by Helen Walsh (The Violators). It centres on an investigation of an attack on a teen girl at a rave, and how a group of disparate teenagers — and their parents — all had reason to commit the crime.
Craig Bohland, ITV Studios’ VP sales, Canada, brokered the deal for the series with Bell Media, in addition to the sale of Coldwater (6 x 60 minutes; Sister), announced at MIPCOM earlier this month.
Bell Media also picked up season three of Love Island: All Stars from ITV Studios and GroupM Motion Entertainment, and new seasons of the reality competition series The Voice and Hell’s Kitchen from ITV America.
