New Metric launches YouTube channel, partners with Lionsgate

New Metric's first three video podcasts, which enter production in 2026, will be featured on the new shozerTV channel.

Toronto’s New Metric Media has launched a new YouTube channel, shozerTV, and partnered with Lionsgate to provide an initial lineup of third-party comedy programming alongside the channel’s other acquired and original content.

ShozerTV — which features content across scripted, podcasts, stand-up, unscripted and sketch comedy — includes originals such as New Metric’s What Would Sal Do? (pictured) and Bria Mack Gets a Life, and the acquired sketch comedy Picnicface from Shadow Pine Studios. Among the more than 20 initial titles licensed from Lionsgate are the sitcom Running Wilde and feature film Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

Lionsgate is the first third-party studio to supply scripted content to the channel, with more partners to come, according to a release issued Thursday (Oct. 23).

Video podcasts will represent a key pillar of the channel. Three original New Metric podcasts are heading into production in 2026: Legit Stupid, Dicey History and a podcast from Sasha Leigh Henry and Tania Thompson.

Kelly&Kelly, which was acquired by New Metric earlier this month, has begun rolling out its podcast The Town Show on the channel, with more titles releasing in the coming months. New Metric has also formed an agreement with podcast monetization platform Acast to distribute a selection of New Metric-owned and original podcasts across key networks such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

In addition, New Metric has licensed comedy specials from Toronto producers Comedy Bar and Macaw Studios. The company’s The Eh-List specials are currently in production, and are slated to drop on the channel in 2026.

New Metric is actively looking to acquire new original, YouTube- and connected TV-first scripted and unscripted content for the channel from comedy creators, as well as existing third-party content, said the release.

“From scripted television and live touring to stand-up and podcasts, having a focused channel in shozerTV allows New Metric to elevate Canadian talent beyond our borders as we continue to build one of the best comedy entertainment studios in the world,” said Mark Montefiore, New Metric Media founder and CEO, in a statement.
