Elevation Pictures teams with John Carpenter on horror anthology

Will Pascoe (Orphan Black) and Michael Amo (The Listener) serve as creators and co-showrunners of the new series.

Toronto-based Elevation Pictures has inked a deal with U.S. filmmaker John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) to produce a new horror anthology series, John Carpenter Presents.

Created by Michael Amo (The Listener) and Will Pascoe (Orphan Black, Absentia), the series marks a continued expansion into the TV space for theatrical distributor Elevation, following closely on the heels of the music documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery for CBC.

According to a release, John Carpenter Presents promises to channel Carpenter’s signature visual style and synthesizer-based musical texture into new original material. The first season of the series, based on a story by showrunners Amo and Pascoe, will echo Carpenter’s classic The Thing as a diverse group of characters in the remote Alaskan wilderness are confronted by a supernatural terror.

Pascoe and Amo will serve as executive producers on the series along with Elevation Pictures. Carpenter (pictured right) and his wife and producing partner, Sandy King Carpenter (left), are executive producers through their Storm King Productions shingle.
