9 Story Media Group launches Scholastic AVOD app

The application’s catalogue features children and family content from both Scholastic and 9 Story.

Toronto’s 9 Story Media Group has partnered with ad-supported streaming solutions company Future Today to launch Scholastic Entertainment’s first branded streaming application.

Called Scholastic TV (pictured), the AVOD service features more than 400 hours of content at launch, including children and family series and films based on the publisher’s IPs, such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Magic School Bus, the original Goosebumps series, Clifford’s Really Big Movie, The Baby-Sitters Club and Animorphs. There are titles from 9 Story’s library in the mix too, including Garfield and Barney & Friends.

Available in Canada, the U.K. and the U.S., the app has launched on Roku and Amazon Fire TV with expansions to other platforms planned, according to a news release issued Wednesday (Sept. 17).

Scholastic acquired full economic interest in 9 Story in 2024 for approximately $249 million. The Toronto-based producer and distributor has since released hundreds of hours of Scholastic Entertainment content across VOD platforms such as Peacock, Tubi and Roku, as well as on dedicated YouTube channels.

“We’re seeing strong demand for quality nostalgic content, and the Scholastic brand is trusted by families everywhere,” said Elianne Friend, 9 Story’s VP of digital and distribution, in a statement. “We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue expanding Scholastic Entertainment’s incredible catalog across global streaming platforms.”
