Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty led digital originals in demand in the first week of August following the launch of its final season in July.
The coming-of-age drama was 49.8 times more in demand than the average series in Canada during the week of July 28 to Aug. 3, according to Parrot Analytics. The series, based on Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy of novels, debuted the first two episodes on July 16. Its series finale is set for Sept. 17.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert remained as the No. 1 overall series in demand despite a significant drop from last week’s average. Comedy Central’s South Park, which premiered its 27th season on July 23, maintained its No. 2 placement with an average of 58.1.
Peacock’s Love Island USA, available in Canada through Crave and CTV, dropped to No. 2 on the digital list and No. 7 overall with a demand average of 40.4. The seventh season finished its run on July 13 and held the digital originals No. 1 spot for five consecutive weeks. Netflix’s Stranger Things maintained its No. 3 slot with an average of 36.8.
HBO Max’s Peacemaker appeared on the list at No. 5 with a demand average of 28.1. It marks the first time that the series — inspired by the DC comic and set in the same universe as James Gunn’s recent Superman film — has broken into the top ten since the airing of its first season in 2022. The second season will premiere in Canada on Crave on Aug. 21.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market. Demand is defined as the total audience demand being expressed for a title within a market. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and viewership, weighted by importance; thus, a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment.
