Sphere Media president Marlo Miazga departs

Miazga had been with Sphere since its acquisition of Bristow Global Media in 2020.

Sphere Media president Marlo Miazga has departed the Montreal-headquartered company.

Miazga (pictured) — who led Sphere’s unscripted and kids divisions — departed Monday (July 7), a spokesperson for Sphere Media told Playback Daily, adding that her departure was amicable.

Sphere Media will not be filling Miazga’s positions for now. EVP, operations Judith Beauchemin will continue to oversee kids and family while Kim Bondi, SVP development and content, helms unscripted.

Miazga, a 30-year industry veteran, joined Bristow Global Media (BGM) as VP of content in 2016, before being promoted to president and CEO in 2019. She joined Sphere following BGM’s 2020 acquisition by Datsit Sphere and Datsit’s rebranding to Sphere Media later that year.

Prior to BGM, Miazga worked as co-president at Newroad Media alongside fellow founder Ann Marie Redmond, as a producer at Proper Television and as a series producer and senior story editor at Lamport-Sheppard Entertainment.

“Marlo was part of the team during a period of significant industry shifts and evolving business priorities,” said Sphere Media CEO Bruno Dubé in a statement. “As we move forward with a renewed focus on growth and realignment, I want to take a moment to recognize her years of service and collaboration. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished here at Sphere Media since our acquisition in 2020,” added Miazga. “I will always be grateful to Sphere for giving me a home to grow. So, whilst I am sad to close this chapter, indisputably, my stand out success is the powerful, creative and hugely loved team that I’m leaving in charge.”
