James Mark’s Karate Ghost kicks off in Toronto

The film, distributed by Blue Fox Entertainment in Canada, is slated for an early 2026 festival premiere and theatrical release.

Writer, director and stunt coordinator James Mark is in production on the martial arts fantasy comedy Karate Ghost, the latest feature for his Toronto-based Kemodo Entertainment.

Bruno Marino and Tony Del Rio produce for Kemodo with David Barrett (Blue Bloods), Plato Fountidakis (Lost Girl) and Brett Jones (Jumper) executive producing. Principal photography began in Toronto on May 12 and wraps June 20.

Karate Ghost represents a deeply personal project for the team as it is co-written by Mark and the late Larry Bain, who died in 2020 at 42 years old. The film is dedicated to Bain and his family.

Toronto-based Blue Fox Entertainment Canada is the Canadian distributor and has plans for a festival premiere and theatrical release in early 2026.

Karate Ghost follows a lonely teen whose life takes a turn when he is possessed by a ’90s action star that died mid-stunt and has been searching for glory ever since.

The film stars Canadians Tim Rozon (Schitt’s Creek), WWE Hall of Fame inductee Trish Stratus (Gridlocked), Robb Wells (Trailer Park Boys), Colton Gobbo (Ginny & Georgia) and Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway).

Also starring is Jim Belushi (K-9), Bobby Lee (MadTV), Michael Jai White (Spawn), Steve Howey (Shameless), Natalie Zea (Justified), David Koechner (Anchorman) and WWE backstage interviewer Cathy Kelley (#blackaf).
