Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia debuted at No. 5 on the digital originals chart in early June following its season three premiere on June 5.
The romantic dramedy was 32.1 times more in demand than the average TV show in Canada during the week of June 2 to 8, according to Parrot Analytics. The series, filmed in locations including Toronto and Cobourg, Ont., follows a 15-year-old and her mother who move to a new town following the death of her stepfather. It was last on the Hot Sheet in early 2023 following the premiere of its second season.
Ginny & Georgia (pictured), which received a double renewal for seasons three and four in 2023, stars Canadians Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek), Sara Waisglass (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Raymond Ablack (Workin’ Moms), Katie Douglas (Pretty Hard Cases) and Chelsea Clark (Degrassi: Next Class).
Netflix’s Stranger Things led digital originals in early June with a demand average of 48.2 as the first part of its culminating fifth season nears release in November. Squid Game also saw its demand increase, appearing at No. 7 with an average of 26, as it nears the premiere of its third and final season on June 27.
Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Disney+’s Andor, which both recently aired their series finales, came in at No. 2 and 3, respectively. The Handmaid’s Tale, which held a demand average of 35.2, is available on Crave, Prime Video and illico+ in Canada and aired its finale on May 27. Andor, with an average of 32.7, released its final batch of episodes on May 13.
Peacock’s Love Island (U.S.), available in Canada on Crave, landed at No. 4 on the digital originals chart following the premiere of its seventh season on June 3. The dating reality show based on the original U.K. format held a demand average of 32.2.
Prime Video’s thriller The Better Sister made its first appearance on the Hot Sheet at No. 10 following its series premiere on May 29. The series, which follows two estranged sisters forced to reconnect after the death of one of their husbands, scored a demand average of 23.7.
PBSKids’ Sesame Street led demand on the overall TV show chart with an average of 50.2 as the iconic children’s series continued its 55th season.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market. Demand is defined as the total audience demand being expressed for a title within a market. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and viewership, weighted by importance; thus, a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment.
