The News Forum slates one-hour Dini Petty talk show special

Trailblazing Talks features Petty interviewing women who’ve made a mark on Canadian history, including Reelworld’s Tonya Williams.

Canadian network The News Forum has slated a one-hour talk show special hosted by broadcasting veteran Dini Petty.

Trailblazing Talks is created by actor and writer Kate Campbell (Boundless) and features Petty interviewing Reelworld Screen Institute founder Tonya Williams and Senator Marnie McBean, a three-time Olympic gold-medalist. The talks will include highlights from their previous appearances on The Dini Petty Show, which ran from 1989 to 1999.

Production on the special has been completed, according to a news release. It is expected to air this summer.

Petty is known for her work as a news anchor on CityPulse at 6 before becoming the first host of the daytime lifestyle show Cityline, where she served from 1984 to 1989 before establishing her self-titled talk show.

Campbell is the showrunner and executive producer of Trailblazing Talks. Additional EPs include Petty, Marina Cordoni and Ken MacDonald, former VP and general manager of Discovery Channel Canada. Former CRTC commissioner Martha Wilson is a consulting producer.

“The time is now for a new kind of conversation, one that honours the women who’ve shaped our world,” said Campbell in a statement. “I created this one-hour special to celebrate broadcast icon Dini Petty’s powerful return to television at 80, alongside two remarkable trailblazers from her past.”
