Netflix licenses season two of Just for Laughs’ About Antoine

Netflix previously licensed the first season and the companion documentary Amazing Antoine.

Netflix has acquired season two of the dramedy About Antoine (À propos d’Antoine) for North America, South America and France.

The series’ first season released on Club Illico (now illico+) in January 2023. Netflix later licensed it and its companion documentary Amazing Antoine (Antoine Le Merveilleux) for a spring 2024 release. Alex Avon, Just for Entertainment Distribution’s chief marketing officer, brokered the deals for both seasons.

About Antoine, inspired by true events, is produced by Just for Laughs. Its second season, directed by Claude Desrosiers (Doute Raisonnable), continues the story of Antoine, a young man who is poly-handicapped, as he and his family triumph over limitations.

The 10 x 21-minute series stars Cathleen Rouleau (Caido; pictured right), Claude Legault (19-2; pictured centre) and Antoine Parent-Bédard (pictured left). Just for Entertainment Distribution holds world licensing rights.

About Antoine was among the nominees for this year’s Rockie Awards and won the MIPCOM Diversify TV Award for Representation of Disability in a Scripted Series, as well as the Best Francophone Foreign Fiction award at Festival de la Fiction in 2024.
